Well, since no one really was interested in the journal about those pictures on dAx, I'll write a new one. The base premise of this game may sound similar to movies like
Cube or
Saw. A man waking up in a strange warehouse, with no memory whatsoever, not even who the man sleeping next to him might be. You wake up the other one, only to hear that he has lost his memory either. And of course, around the next corner, dangers lie ahead, ranging from razorblades running across the floors to barriers of flowing plasma.
Platform is a weekly updated series of levels, 20 so far, narrating the guys' escape from this perilous place, and their struggle to find out who drugged them up and left them there.
You can access every episode/level immediately, but of course it is best to start at
the first one and, on a personal note, though it might be tempting to skip a level which may be hard or impossible to solve, do not do so as the story fragments not only happen at the beginning of a level.
To proceed through the huge complex, the two have to work together to bypass obstacles they could not bypass by themselves, like opening doors and operating platforms for each other. While not an innovative concept by itself, the game manages to reinvent its premise in each level, with sometimes constant timing-dependent switching between the characters.
What really keeps you trying to advance through the game and cope with the in my opinion at first rather sensitive controls, including the timing needed to guide two characters over running conveyors garnished with rotating razorblades, is the storyline that develops from the characters' conversations during the levels, as the two catch glimpses of what goes on around them. You even get a bit attached to them because they have certain differences, "green shirt" thinking about what is going on, and "red shirt" growing more and more angry at the ones who put them in this maze. Wondering why they can remember the aforementioned movie Cube, but not their names, and whether they were captured by aliens or are just in a crazy government experiment, they slowly find out that they are apparently tested, and that this may not be the first time they woke up in this deadly obstacle course...
Play Platform.
